Military-born partnership Spades with one published standard: direct rules, hard competition, table tradition, and no confusion about how the game is played.
How it is different
No Zero bid.
A Zero bid—often called Nil in other versions—is not authorized. Bid your hand, support your partner, watch the board, and live with the result.
Minimum, a.k.a. “Board”
Partnership bids begin at four. Certain bids are deliberately off the table.
Play to win
The first partnership to reach at least 500 wins—unless a Boston ends the matter first.

Origin story

The game already existed wherever soldiers had four chairs, a deck, and enough time to argue. Grunt Spades gives that table its field manual: GS-1, field designation FM 10-4-2.
It is not government doctrine. It is table doctrine: direct, tested, argued over, and built to be handed down through barracks, field problems, deployments, reunions, and family rooms.
